Insurance Discounts
Under Florida Statute 627.0652, insurers must offer a premium discount to drivers 55 and older who complete an approved mature driver course. The discount typically runs 5–10% for three years. Drivers under 55 may qualify for voluntary discounts depending on their carrier. We provide official completion documentation for direct submission to your insurance company. Confirm with your insurer first to verify which course they accept.
Court-Ordered Instruction
Court-mandated driving instruction must be completed through a state-licensed provider. Stephen A. Emerson Driving School is licensed by the State of Florida (#3949) to fulfill behind-the-wheel training requirements. Depending on your case, completion may reduce assessed points, prevent an insurance increase, or help restore driving privileges. Bring your court paperwork when you call, we’ll confirm what we can complete for your specific requirement.
Special Circumstances
Some adult drivers need training beyond a standard lesson a court order, an insurance requirement, or a license renewal issue. If any of the situations below apply, contact us to discuss your options.
Senior & Mature Drivers
Florida drivers 80 and older must renew their license every six years and pass a vision test at each renewal. There is no automatic road test requirement but the FLHSMV can request a re-examination if a physician, family member, or law enforcement officer submits a medical referral.
Whether you’re preparing for a re-examination, adjusting to a change in vision or reaction time, or simply want to stay confident on the road, professional refresher training provides an honest, judgment-free skills assessment. For many drivers, a few hours of targeted instruction is the difference between surrendering a license and keeping their independence for years longer.
